The Elephant Expedition invites you into the wild heart of coexistence, where conservation is not an abstract idea, but a daily practice lived alongside communities, guides, landscapes, and the remarkable elephants who call this desert home. This journey is more than observation; it is an opportunity to listen, learn, and witness what it means for humans and wildlife to share space with respect, responsibility, and reverence.
Through wild camping, remote travel, conservation learning, community connection, and time spent following the signs and movements of desert-adapted elephants, guests are invited to slow down and enter the rhythm of the land.

Desert-adapted elephant tracking
Follow Namibia’s desert-adapted elephants through ancient riverbeds while learning how they survive in the desert climate.
Wild camping under vast Namibian skies
Sleep close to the land, gather around the fire, and experience the quiet beauty of the desert beneath a sky full of stars. Wake up in vast, remote landscapes.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Arrive in Swakopmund
Arrive in Namibia and settle into the coastal town of Swakopmund. Rest, gather as a group, and let the ocean ground you.
Day 2 — Journey to Base Camp
Travel inland from the coast toward base camp, watching the landscape shift from ocean air to desert wilderness.
Day 3 — Travel to the Build Site
Head deeper into the field and arrive near the build site. Settle into camp and learn about the community project, human-elephant conflict, and the purpose behind the work.
Day 4 — Community Build Day
Spend the day supporting hands-on conservation work, helping build protective structures that support local communities living alongside desert-adapted elephants.
Day 5 — Complete the Build & Return to Camp
Finish the build project and return to camp for rest, reflection, and preparation for the elephant patrol portion of the expedition.
Day 6 — Elephant Patrol Begins
Begin patrol through remote desert landscapes, tracking signs of elephant movement and learning how these herds navigate ancient river systems. Sleep wild beneath the stars.
Day 7 — Patrol & Wild Camping
Continue through rugged terrain on patrol, observing elephant behavior, reading the landscape, and deepening your understanding of desert ecology.
Day 8 — Final Patrol & Return to EHRA Camp
Spend the day completing the patrol route before returning to EHRA camp for a final evening of gathering, reflection, and integration.
Day 9 — Return to Swakopmund
Leave the desert and return to Swakopmund for a comfortable overnight stay, warm showers, and a closing evening together.
Day 10 — Depart for Airport
Transfer onward for flights home, carrying the stories, connections, and grounding of the desert with you.
